A TEAM of officials from the Department of Agriculture have started initial survey works on farms in Vanua Levu.

The survey which started on Tuesday was carried out to ascertain the damage caused on the agriculture sector by the category four monster, Tropical Cyclone Evan.

At a briefing in Labasa yesterday, Northern Emergency Operations centre team leader Inoke Dokonivalu said preliminary stages of survey was in progress.

He said the extent of damage by TC Evan was unclear as officials were still in the field doing surveys.

Mr Dokonivalu added they were working on the logistics of ration distribution as officials were deployed to certain parts of Vanua Levu to confirm affected areas.
