Resilient Evan after

Tevita Vuibau
Wednesday, December 19, 2012

"WE will rebuild and come back, life will go on."

Those were the words of 47-year-old Vitogo villager Savenaca Naro as he looked over the destruction caused by Tropical Cyclone Evan at the village yesterday.

Mr Naro was one among the many residents of the west, whose houses were damaged by Tropical Cyclone Evan.

"I expected after hearing the warnings that the cyclone would cause damage to my house, so I was getting myself ready," he said.

"Before the cyclone came I collected all the things in the house and wrapped them up to keep them safe from the rain before leaving to take shelter in another house."

Mr Naro who works as a stevedore in Lautoka said he would buy materials and build his house again adding that it would take more than a hurricane to beat the people of the country.
