Evan spares province

THE province of Cakaudrove was unscathed as Tropical Cyclone Evan made its way west of Vanua Levu.

Assistant roko tui Cakaudrove Peni Drauna confirmed there was no major damage within the province.

Mr Drauna confirmed rain had dissipated and there was no major damage experienced.

"The areas of Natewa and the Buca Bay remain normal and all is calm as we expect to return to normal weather," he said.

"An operation centre has been set up in the Taveuni district office.

"We have yet to get reports from them but they have confirmed by phone that there has been no serious damage in the area too.

"People who have turned up to DISMAC evacuation centres set up within the province have returned to their own homes," said Mr Drauna.
