Kings Road under water

Update: 10:09AM A PART of the Kings Road is closed to all traffic after extensive flooding in Wailotua last night.

About 15 houses in Wailotua No.1 village are under water at this point in time.

Wailotua villager Josua Cagi said this was the first time for the village to be flooded since the construction of the new Kings Road in the area.

Mr Cagi said villagers whose homes were submerged were taking shelter in other houses located on the higher grounds of the village.

He said the affected families were safely evacuated, adding "luckily the flooding did not happen in the dark of the night."

"It would have been dangerous if it happened at night. We were keeping a close watch," he said.
