Samoa Fijians rebuild lives

Torika Tokalau
Tuesday, December 18, 2012

WHILE Tropical Cyclone Evan battered the Fiji group yesterday, Fijians in Samoa came together to rebuild homes and lives following the destruction caused by the cyclone last week.

The chairman of the Fijian community in Samoa, Jovilisi Suveinakama, said the Fijians were in good spirit despite the devastation caused by the cyclone.

He confirmed no Fijian was badly affected by TC Evan and that they had joined hands to help other communities.

"All through Samoa, the police, fire, hospitals, Red Cross, radio station and community members are working together to support one another," he said.

"Everyone is doing what they can to support each other. Even though there is no water and electricity, the people are doing all they can under the circumstances.

"The focus is to support those who have lost their homes."
