PM: Give babies the right food

Tuesday, December 18, 2012

PRIME Minister Voreqe Bainimarama yesterday told the Northern emergency operation team to give the right food to infants and children at evacuation centres.

Speaking to the team via skype briefing, Commodore Bainimarama said infants must be given good food and that all evacuees were to be well looked after.

"I notice a lot of infants are in the evacuation centres," he said.

"Please make sure that they are given the right food."

Commodore Bainimarama urged the team to continue monitoring the situation to ensure safety of lives and property.

Commissioner Northern Lieutenant Colonel Ilai Moceica told Commodore Bainimarama a team would secure the necessary resources and food for the infants.

"We have received reports of fallen trees and damage to farms, vegetation and root crops," he said.

"Movement restrictions in the north are still in place to allow for minimum risk during this time."
