Update: 12:27PM WHILE international guests have been evacuated from resorts in the Mamanuca Group of Islands, staff members tasked with looking after the properties are battening down and hoping for the best.

Workers at Plantation Island Resort have gathered at the convention centre and have reported that wind intensity has picked up considerably in the last 30 minutes.

"We are ready and prepared for whatever comes, we will remain here until Cyclone Evan passes and then prepare the resort for the arrival of guests as soon as possible," a resort worker said.
