Evac kids top priority

Update: 11:37AM SIXTY-SIX evacuation centres have opened in Vanua Levu with 4928 evacuees

Commissioner Norther Lieutenant Colonel Ilai Moceica said 326 are infants, 1853 children and 2749 adults in these centres.

In Cakaudrove, 44 centres have opened up, 16 Macuata and six in Bua.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, in a Skype meeting with the northern emergency operation team, told them to ensure that infants and children in evacuation centres are given good food.

"I notice that infants and children are quite a lot in evacuation centres. Please make sure they get good food."

Comm North Lieutenant Colonel Ilai Moceica assured the PM that his team would go out to secure the right resouces for the children.
