Evan picks up speed

Update: 9:31PM A HURRICANE warning is now in force for the Yasawa and Mamanuca Group.

A gale warning remains in force for Cikobia, Taveuni, Vanua Levu and nearby smaller islands, northern Lau and Lomaiviti Group and Viti Levu and smaller Islands.

Meanwhile, a tropical cyclone alert remains in force for Kadavu and nearby smaller islands while a strong wind warning remains in force for the rest of Fiji.

At 7pm today, TC Evan was located 95km north northwest of Cikobia and 185km north northeast of Labasa, moving west southwest at about 25km per hour.

It had initially been travelling at 5km per hour as a category two cyclone.
