By ROPATE VALEMEI
Sunday, December 16, 2012

Update: 2:52PM VATUROVA villagers have been evacuated after heavy rain flooded their village last night.

Red Cross disaster co-ordinator Eseroma Ledua said they were looking after the villagers at the Vaturova High School, which was activated as an evacuation centre.

He said Red Cross had activated its officers in Labasa, Savusavu and Taveuni.

He said their staff and volunteers were on the ground in terms of operations and logistic assistance.

He urged the public to take heed of the Disaster Management Office warnings and move to their nearest evacuation centre if they have been advised to.
