Cikobia feels the fringe

Update: 12:57PM HEAVY rain and strong winds now battering Cikobia Island.

Nalele villagers Akuila Dukirewa said rain and strong winds started 30 minutes ago.

"We have evacuated all our elderly, children and women to the health centre and other homes that sit on safe ground."

Mr Dukirewa said the Cikobia District School was quite far to take the villagers to.

The evacuation was done early this morning.
