TWENTY-five-years-old Savenaca Tabakanalagi was named the Player of the Year at the Navy Rugby Club awards night on Thursday in Suva.
The Suva lock, who was in the Flying Fijians extended squad for the Europe trip, has been the most consistent Navy player this season.
Tabakanalagi also played a pivotal role in Suva's memorable Farebrother-Sullivan Trophy win this year.
In other awards, Flying Fijian prop Manasa Saulo was named the best forwards player while first-five eight Emosi Mulevoro scooped the best backline player award.
Hooker Josaia Cikaitoga, who scored the winning try for Navy in its Escott Shield defence against Army this year, won the most improved player award.
New find Eroni Bulamaimaleya, 24, was named the Rookie of the Year.
Navy team manager Joseva Tuinidau said they had a fruitful year with the successful defence of the Escott Shield.
"We also had 14 of our players in the Suva team that won the Farebrother-Sullivan trophy this year," he said.
"About six of our players were in the Flying Fijians extended squad with four in the Fiji sevens team.
"So considering that, we had a pretty good season and we hope for a better one next year."
About 300 people attended the awards night, which was held at the Civic Centre.
Navy sponsor's Fresh'et International Limited managing director Richard Chow was the chief guest.
