THE Fiji Under-17 training squad will play warm-up matches against the district U21 teams in the build-up to the Oceania Football Confederation men's U17 Championship in Vanuatu next year.
The Fiji men's U17 squad featured in the playoffs of the 2012 Ultimate Cup at Churchill Park in Lautoka yesterday.
The Fiji A team thrashed Fiji B team 6-0 to end the competition on a high note. Fiji A included Rewa's Iosefo Verevou while Ba's young Lautoka recruit Don Raj played for Fiji B.
Fiji Football Association technical director Farouk Janeman said the selection for the national U17 team was still open.
"Since the OFC qualifiers are in April, we will definitely lift our preparations from early next year," Janeman said.
"We will have more matches for the side in the build-up to the playoffs. The matches will be against the various district U21 teams."
