Update: 12:52PM SOME Samoan students are stranded in Fiji due to Tropical Cyclone Evan.

Four high school students from Tiapapata, Samoa, currently on vacation in Fiji,  told The Fiji Times they had not been able to return to their country because of the closure of the international airport.

Ben Percival said he was worried about his family back home who were facing the full brunt of Tropical Cyclone Evan.

"I am safe in Fiji but feel sad because I have not been able to be with my family during this difficult time," Mr Percival said.

He said from what he was told by his friends, the condition in Samoa was bad and a lot of people were now homeless.

"I am only praying for the best for the people of Samoa," Mr Percival said.
