THE Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited (ANZ) has signed Fiji's biggest stadium naming rights with the Fiji Sports Council (FSC).
The National Stadium will now be known as the ANZ Stadium after the bank signed a three-year sponsorship deal worth $850,000.
ANZ chief executive officer Pacific and Fiji Vishnu Mohan said they would invest an additional $200,000 in stadium branding over the next three years.
He said the sponsorship was a sign of their commitment to support all levels of sport in Fiji and in the South Pacific region.
"Fiji has a long and distinguished sporting history and we all know how important sport is to all Fijians. I believe, the first matches held in this stadium were between Fiji and the New Zealand Maori, England and France, and the 1979 South Pacific Games," Mohan said.
"These are some wonderful moments from Fiji's sporting past and we are proud that it will now carry the ANZ name into the future."
Fiji Sports Council chairman Peter Mazey thanked ANZ for continuing their partnership with them.
He said both ANZ and the stadium share national and international outlooks, while remaining in touch with the community.
"I can't thank the ANZ Bank enough for extending our current partnership to include this sponsorship as it was ANZ Bank that had enough faith in us to grant us the initial loan of $15million and now extended to $20million," Mazey added.
