Cyclone Evan intensifies

Update: 5:42PM TROPICAL Cyclone Evan is intensifying and is expected to arrive in the Fiji waters by Sunday as a Category Three severe tropical cyclone.

At 2pm today, tropical Cyclone Evan Category Two centre was located about 40 kilometres southeast of Apia, Samoa or 910 kilometres east-northeast of Lakeba, Fiji.

Fiji Meteorological Service director Alipate Waqaicelua said at this stage, on its projected trend and intensity trend, the cyclone should move across the northern parts of Tonga on Saturday and arrive into the Fiji waters by Sunday.
