DIGICEL Fiji 7s players from the victorious Gold Coast 7s team who were left out of the Dubai and South Africa 7s tournaments have been eyed to return for the third leg of the 2012/2013 HSBC Sevens World Series.
Players including Gold Coast 7s new find Alipate Raitini, Police Sukuna Bowl star Manueli Lagai and Covenant Brothers captain Osea Kolinisau are set to bolster the Fiji team for the Wellington and Las Vegas 7s tournaments.
Fiji 7s head coach Alifereti Dere said most of the players from the second leg would miss out in the next trip but remained under their training program.
Dere said there would be no rest for the players during the festive period.
"The fitness test for the players is on December 26 which is Boxing Day," Dere said.
"The team will then march into camp on January 1. The players are aware of this and they have their own training program.
"They know what to do. We will maintain our training program as we have done from last year.
"What we are going through now is exposure.
"We sent one team to the Gold Coast 7s. Then we made seven changes for Dubai and South Africa.
"We will make more changes for the third leg and may retain only three or four players who featured in the second leg. The players from the Gold Coast 7s squad will be back.
"In Dubai and South Africa we made changes in each game so that the seven new players would get a start. We made all the players run on to the field before the quarter-final.
"All the players were ready for the tournament as we were preparing for the last three weeks before departing for Dubai."
The Wellington 7s will be played on February 1-2.
The Las Vegas 7s in the US will be held from February 8-10.
