THE Suva Darts Association (SDA) awarded seven teams out of 11 competing in its weekly league competition during the awards night on Tuesday at Defence Club in Suva.
With two rounds of FINTEL-sponsored SDA League this year, the organisers saw it fitting to reward teams that failed to finish on top.
"Usually SDA honoured three teams at the awards night but to promote darts and to keep players interested and motivated to play darts, SDA has changed it format," Vineel Singh, secretary of SDA, said.
"Thus the top teams were there but teams at the bottom also scooped prizes in the B-grade competition. Seven out of the eleven teams were awarded."
The association also changed the format of their weekly league event to make it more competitive.
Singh said the first round was played between all participating teams but they divided the second round into two categories — A-grade and B-grade — based on the results from the opening round.
"We did this so that the teams would remain competitive and at the same time the league would be a little interesting," he added.
"We thank our sponsors FINTEL for their support and the staff and management of Defence Club for hosting the SDA this year. We look forward to a better 2013 season."
Meanwhile, Team Finance Pacific scooped the top prize after winning both rounds.
