FIJI will have its first ever Happy Festive Season 4km run this Saturday in Nadi.
Jet Runners Club is teaming up with Quality Tiles setters and McDonald's to host the run which encourages Fijians to live healthy lives, especially youths.
"Running and walking is the best prescription which keeps us healthy, improves our fitness and wellbeing and also gives us better standard of living. By organising such events it keeps people together," said Jet Runners club president Abhinesh Kumar.
Kumar said the run would be used as a build-up for the Pacific Mini Games and secondary school students could also use it as a fitness run for next year's Coca-Cola Games. He said the club would use the event to prepare for other road and track races.
Kumar added he was grateful for the support of the other two sponsors. He said the club, being the only runners club in Fiji, had been very successful this year and was glad it would end the year with eight races.
"We hosted Fiji's first ever cross country championship and two of our top athletes, current Fiji long distances champion Avikash Lal and Ravineel Kumar, represented Fiji at Oceania Cross Country Championship in Hamilton New Zealand."
Registrations for Saturday's run will begin at 7am and race starts at 8am.
Medals will be given to the top three in the primary school, secondary school, open and veteran's categories.
