THE Lautoka Cricket Association has signed up Punja Group of Companies as the official sports drinks supplier for the upcoming Super Six Cricket Championship which will be held from December 29-30.
The SSCC will feature ten teams.
LCA development officer Rukesh Patel said Punjas would supply energy drink Sportzone during the two-day event.
"We are really thankful to Punjas for coming up as the official drinks supplier," Patel said.
"This will really help the cricketers re-energising and rehydrating after the games. There are teams coming from Suva as well."
"We are really glad to get the support from the business houses in the country for this tournament as it is first of its kind in South Pacific."
Punjas marketing manager Mahesh Thussarra said Sportzone was a local brand and they were supporting sporting events in the country.
"Cricket is popular sport in Fiji and the drink will help boost players' performance during the games," said Thussarra said.
The teams that have already confirmed participation include Danam Dragons, Madhavji Pala Sixers, Shakti Knights, Keshwa Barbarians, William and Gosling Blasters, President Warriors, Jacks Auto World Blues, BSP Titans and HMT Army.
The major sponsor for the SSCC will be announced next week.
The rules of Super Sixes differ from the 20Twenty, 50 overs and Test cricket.
The Super Sixes have six players and is played over six overs. Every player except the wicketkeeper is required to bowl at least one over. The format basically suits all-rounders.
