Sugar roadshow

Felix Chaudhary
Thursday, December 13, 2012

CANE supply issues, the cane quality payment system and the Fiji Sugar Corporation's plans to haul more harvested cane via the rail system will top the agenda when sugar industry stakeholders undertake a series of roadshows in the off-season.

FSC executive chairman Abdul Khan said it was imperative that issues faced in the 2012 season be immediately addressed once crushing was completed.

"The roadshow will give us an opportunity to consult with the growers and see the issues they faced and how best we can look at addressing these in the new year," he said.

"It also provides an opportunity to educate them on the cane quality payment system and how it will work.

"We will also encourage them to visit our mills and see the system in action once it has been set up," said Mr Khan.
