FIJI FA technical director Farouk Janeman says the 2012 Ultimate Fiji Soccer Cup was start for the national women's age group teams as they prepared for the world qualifiers in 2014.

The Ultimate Fiji Soccer Cup hosted by Ultimate Sports Travel Events (Australia) in conjunction with Fiji FA, has four girls and four boys under-17 teams competing.

In the girls division, there are two teams from Fiji, one New Zealand U17 and an Australian girls team.

In the boys division, there are two teams from Fiji, one team from NSW (Australia) and one team from Victoria, Australia.

Janeman said with the Fiji women's team to play in the U17 World Qualifiers in 2014, the tournament provided a good build-up for the team

"With 14 months left, this tournament is a fantastic start for the team to select the best players," the former Fiji rep said.

The Fiji men's U17 side coached by Kamal Swamy is also preparing for next year's Oceania Football Confederation Cup and Janeman said the Ultimate Fiji Soccer Cup was timely in perfecting the team combination.

Meanwhile, the Fiji teams failed to impress against their much-fancied counterparts losing all their matches to the touring teams.

In the men's competition, the Fiji B men's side lost to Victoria 1-3 while the Fiji A lost to NSW by similar a scoreline yesterday.

The women's teams were earlier beaten by the NZ and Australian U17 teams.

Janeman said the Fiji teams would play in the qualifiers while the visiting teams were set to feature in the final on Friday at Churchill Park.
