Officials monitor weather

Update: 1:31PM FOLLOWING periods of rain from the morning, relevant authorities in the Central Division are closely monitoring the weather situation.

Commissioner Central Lieutenant Colonel Laisenia Tuitubou said his team was on standby.

Lt Col Tuitubou said they had also identified several evacuation centres in Tailevu to evacuate people to safety in case the water level rises.

He said his team was also monitoring the water levels in the Rewa River.

The water level in the river is not a threat at this stage but we are closely monitoring the situation, Lt Col Tuitubou said.
