NADI rep Peniasi Wakawaka was the toast of the Sabeto leading the club to victory during the Nadi International Airport 7s at the Airports Fiji Limited ground in Old Town Namaka yesterday.

The Sabeto team defeated Bay of Plenty 7-5 in the final. The Sabeto team also included district rep Timoci Naloto. The side won $1000.

One of the tournament organisers Jeff Tamata said Airport was one of the first rugby clubs to be formed in Nadi.

He said their aim was to revive the Airport 7s team.

Tamata said the revenue collected would go towards the future Airport 7s teams.

"The tournament was well organised and we had no complaints from the clubs," Tamata said.

"A big crowd witnessed the tournament. Airport is planning to host a bigger tournament next time."

In the semi-final Sabeto thrashed the host club 22-0 while Bay of Plenty beat Nawaka 22-17.

Rafaele Tuni of Bay of Plenty was named as the best player of the tournament.
