Patel laments loss

Mary Rauto
Sunday, December 09, 2012

LOCAL businessman Mahendra Patel has written to the chief executive officer of News Limited, Kim Williams, to pass on his condolences to Rupert Murdoch on the passing away of Dame Elisabeth Murdoch, 103.

He said: "Please pass on this personal letter to Mr Rupert Murdoch on the passing away of his beloved mother, grandmother and matriarch of the Murdoch Family.

"Whilst I had not met Dame Elisabeth Murdoch and through my 35 years as director of Fiji Times I had met Mr Rupert Murdoch several times thus I am saddened and feel a sense of loss.

"Dame Elisabeth Murdoch was a remarkable person and her many beautiful attributes are reflected in Mr Rupert Murdoch and also that of his late father Sir Keith Murdoch.

"There is sadness all around but there is also triumph in the sense that there are so many people who want to emulate the attributes of Dame Elisabeth Murdoch and this is the lasting legacy that she has left behind."
