ANDREW Winter—Taylor, team leader, Coordination Unit, Lautoka informed that the European Union is supporting a number of activities over the next several years, in addition to Vocational Training, Housing, and Rural Credit.

These include cane variety research, the development of crops that are complementary to sugarcane and which can feed the farmers and their families as well as provide supplementary income to sugarcane income, building the

capacity of the Fairtrade Cane Producer Associations, including farmer advisory services, development of the livestock industry, repair of the sugarcane access roads, reforestation of the foothills in 3 pilot sectors, and possible support to some of the sugarcane industry rejuvenation initiatives.
