NZ assists schools

THE New Zealand government has helped improve the learning environment for students of two primary schools on Vanua Levu.

Through the New Zealand High Commission's Trust Fund, Navai Primary School in Macuata received new desks, chairs and library furniture while Korokadi Primary in Seaqaqa received much-needed solar power.

In commissioning the solar panels at Korokadi Primary New Zealand Trade Commissioner Peter Lund said the fund was a small grants scheme that enabled the high commission to support activities which contributed to poverty elimination and met community development needs. Under this small grants scheme remote schools have been assisted with educational materials and more.
