Styled with a cat's grace

One look tells you that BT-50 is so much more than just a pickup. Its styling is an exciting statement of the coiled, graceful power of a big cat poised and ready to pounce. The confident face features Mazda's signature five-point grille, as well as headlamps with a boomerang design more typical of a passenger car. The bold, wedge-shaped profile represents a revolution in pickup architecture including an evolved version of the front Dynamic Prominent Fenders found on Mazda passenger cars. The rear is characterised by a strong horizontal character line, echoed in the unique horizontally-alligned rear combination lamps that clearly differentiate the BT-50 from other pickups. Newly designed 17-inch aluminium wheels perfectly complement the sporty styling.

The satisfying feel of quality

The interior continues the sporty passenger car theme, with every detail thought out to give a satisfying feel of quality. The asymmetric layout gives the front passenger a spacious and comfortable area similar to a passenger car, while the driver enjoys a snug, sporty wraparound driving environment. The keynote interior color is a sophisticated black highlighted with decorative silver elements. Parts that you touch are chrome-plated with a satin finish for an extra touch of quality and class.

The power of dynamics

Zoom-zoom performance is a Mazda trademark and a BT-50 delivers it in full measure. It starts with an all-new engine lineup consisting of 3.2litre and 2.2litre diesel engines. The mainstay MZ-CD 3.2 diesel is Mazda's first five cylinder engine, offering large displacement in a compact unit that achieves class leading power and torque together with superior fuel efficiency and low NVH for a quiet ride. An advanced untra-high pressure (1,800 bar) common-rail injection system with a precision multi-stage piezo injectors is fitted to all diesel units, and the MZ-CD 3.2 is also equipped with a variable-nozzle turbo=charger. Transmissions include five- and six-speed manual gearboxes and a six-speed automatic. The six-speed AT features closely-spaced gear ratios with a wide spread for excellent torque from low engine speeds along with low emissions and superior fuel efficiency, and is also equipped with advanced shift-control technologies adopted from Mazda passenger cars.
