Sanitation project

Friday, December 07, 2012

VILLAGERS of Kalekana settlement in Lami can expect an upgraded living area come the new year.

The Citywide Upgrading Project was launched this week by Local Government Minister Colonel Samuela Saumatua.

"This groundbreaking will mark the commencement of construction of the new sanitation project for Kalekana settlement," he said.

Col. Saumatua said although it had taken them a while to get to this stage of development, the ministry was pleased that work had started.

"Lami Town Council had committed in early 2012 to enhance the settlement upgrading in its town and assisting in upgrading sanitation in the settlement was identified and required urgent attention," he said.

The project was made possible by funding from the Asian Coalition of Housing Rights (ACHR) and the government.
