Army rules the courts

ARMY continues to dominate the BSP Life Sukuna Bowl 2012 competition following convincing wins in the volleyball and netball events yesterday.

In the volleyball women's competition, Police triumphed beating Army by three sets while Army won the men's grade by similar score.

In the tussle between the Army Wives and the Police Wives, the Army Wives proved a better side after winning the event.

In netball, Army won the Wives Veterans competition 22-3 while Army Wives defeated Police Wives 50-37.

Police upset Army 15-12 to win the women's competition.

Sukuna Bowl Organising Committee chairman Colonel Amani Suliono was impressed with the improved level of competition this year.

He said teams looked better prepared than previous years and displayed high level of competition.

"Both teams (Police and Army) displayed good competition and showed they have been preparing well for this event," Suliono said.

"The players showed good camaraderie during the competition and we are really impressed with that."

Suliono urged supporters to come out in big numbers for the main event, Sukuna Bowl rugby challenge between the Police and Army tomorrow at 4pm at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

The BSP Life Sukuna Bowl 2012 will start with a march through the Sugar City.

The development matches will kick off at 10.20am.

The veterans over-40 match will start at 1pm.

The main fixture will begin at 4pm.
