Thursday, December 06, 2012

BIOSECURITY Authority of Fiji chief executive officer Elvis Silvestrini has resigned after only 22 months in the position.

In a statement from BAF yesterday, the organisation said Mr Silvestrini resigned for personal reasons. "I am proud of BAF's achievements since February 2011 and consider it an honour to work with such a dedicated and professional group of employees," Mr Silvestrini said

"The improvement BAF has achieved in border security and opening trade markets has been nothing short of extraordinary and I thank the board, staff and our local partners for their support."

Meanwhile, BAF board chairperson Josephine Smith-Moffat said their role was important to protect Fiji from pests and diseases and facilitate agricultural trade. She said BAF continued to strengthen relations with other regional biosecurity and quarantine authorities and trading partners.
