MOE levy for Sabha schools

Wednesday, December 05, 2012

THE Arya Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji has decided to implement the Education ministry's approved new primary school levy for its primary schools.

Arya Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji national president Pundit Kamlesh Arya said last week the approval was granted in 2011 but the Sabha held off implementing the levy for social reasons.

"The new fee applicable would be Vatukoula Arya School with $30 per child per term, and all Sabha schools will be $35 per child per term," Mr Arya said.

"Before implementing the increases, the Sabha hereby informs parents of the proposed increases from 2013."

He said the Sabha also had for some time been providing remission of school levies for the 10 top students from its primary schools entering secondary schools.

"This provision has no religious, ethnic or social status barrier," he said.
