New urban growth plan

Felix Chaudhary
Tuesday, December 04, 2012

GOVERNMENT is putting together an urban growth management action plan for the Western Division, which should be finalised by this month.

Raijeli Taylor of the Department of Town and Country Planning said the master-plan would be implemented to foster new businesses in the area.

"This will set out a strategic scheme plan for the various areas of the project for the greater West corridor from Sigatoka to Rakiraki Town," she said.

"So areas between these council boundaries are in the strategic plan of action for the government as a roadmap for the next 15 to 20 years. With the co-operation of business leaders and the backing of government we should be able to create new wealth by a combination of new enterprise and government financial aid."
