Suspended sentence

Mere Naleba
Tuesday, December 04, 2012

THREE Asians charged with gaming without a licence and engaging in business without a licence were yesterday handed suspended sentences by Magistrate Yohan Liyanage.

In sentencing Huang Dong, Kelly Zhu and Xiohong Kuang, Magistrate Liyanage took a starting point of six months and increased it to three months considering the aggravating factors in the case.

He then reduced the nine-month sentence to six months considering that the three accused took an early guilty plea.
