TOULOUSE, France - New Zealand winger David Smith grabbed two tries as Toulon romped past Grenoble 39-3 to go five points clear at the top of the French Top 14 yesterday.
Smith scored after seven and 71 minutes, sandwiching further tries from Juan Martin Fernandez-Lobbe, Jean-Charles Orioli and English full-back Delon Armitage as Toulon also secure a valuable bonus point. Jonny Wilkinson added 14 points with the boot.
Defending champions Toulouse had earlier taken temporary charge of top spot with a three-try, 30-22 win over Clermont.
