ABOUT 300 guests and staff of Sheraton Fiji Resort celebrated the hotel's 25th birthday on Denarau in Nadi last week.
Invited guests including corporate body executives, hotel heads and long serving staff members were treated to morning tea and a look back on the resort's history.
Sheraton and Westin Resorts Fiji managing director Shane Cunning said the resort had come a long way since it opened for business 25 years ago. "As one of Fiji's favourite family holiday resorts, we are happy to be able to share this very special milestone with our loyal guests, friends and associates.
"We have come a long way in the 25 years and are proud to be a key player in Fiji's tourism industry," Mr Cunning said.
"We have continued to welcome back to our resort loyal guests over the last 25 years without whom we will not be able to share this momentous occasion. And this could not have been possible without the exceptional services by our dedicated associates who have proudly represented the Sheraton brand with pride.
"Our loyal associates have also risen up the ranks here at Sheraton and we are now proud to announce that Sheraton Fiji have localised a number of positions bringing the number of expatriates from 17 in 2008 to five.
"With major positions such as our hotel manager, spa manager and chief engineer to name a few."
The resort's 25th birthday celebrations coincided with the 75th anniversary of the world renowned Sheraton Hotels and Resort brand.
With its two integrated resorts — Sheraton Villas and Westin Denarau Island Resort and Spa — Sheraton Fiji Resort continues to be one of the leading luxury hotels on Denarau Island.
For its parent company, Sheraton Hotels and Resorts, it recently completed a $6billion global revitalisation and is now in the middle of a $5billion global expansion over the next three years.
