Nausori Club's Praneel Singh goes into the fourth Fiji Bitter National Rankings Snooker Championship in Suva this weekend as the top seed.

Singh is the number one player in the super premier division despite not winning a ranking tournament this year.

Billiards and Snooker Association of Fiji secretary Doctor Praveen Maharaj said they expected more than 40 players to participate in both the super premier and premier divisions.

He said the super premier division was wide open this year with three different winners.

"Suman Lal, Pritesh Khatri and Viliame Umu have each won a ranking tournament this year," Maharaj said.

"But Praneel is the number one having being consistent, reaching the semi-finals. Because of the change in dates, the entries have been extended to tomorrow (today). We expect a good turnout especially from Nausori Club."

Deepak Jai Ram and Jiten Prasad are the other title contenders in the top flight. Mahen Deo the North West champion together with Rimal Narayan and Vineel Nand will lead the charge from Nadi.

Former Fiji number three Nitesh Chand will fly Lautoka's flag.

Southern Division Billiards and Snooker Association president Ravi Narayan is the number one player in the premier division. Raymond Reddy of Ba Central Club and Nitendra Michael of Lautoka Club are other favourites in the lower division.

The two-day tournament will be played at the Merchants Club, Fiji Club and Defence Club.
