FMF Foods Fiji Limited subsidiary company Biscuit Company of (Fiji) Limited (BCF) lost almost 78 per cent of their market in Australia after the biscuit volume dropped in the last few months this year.
FMF group chief executive officer Ram Bajekal said this year was very tough and challenging for them.
"In the first month, we lost 78 per cent of the market compared to the first month of the previous year.
"The next month was a 50 per cent drop and the following month was a 20 per cent drop."
He said the volume dropped in Australia did not affect their overall export.
"That was harder, we managed to get new business from New Zealand, new business from Papua New Guinea and new business from some other island countries in the Pacific."
He said the new business had raised their export performance much better than the previous one.
The success of the business according to Mr Bajekal, was the hard work of his team.
"We continue to get hammered by Arnott's in Australia. Arnott's probably has 61 per cent of the market shares in the Australian biscuit market."
Mr Bajekal said the challenge had boosted his team to go to the next level of business.
