Saturday, November 24, 2012

Reserve Bank of Fiji Medium Exporter of the Year 2012- Ram Sami and Sons Limited will extend its services to the Caribbean markets by next year. Inspired by its recent achievement, the fast growing company is exporting its products which include eggs and sausages to all Pacific Island countries.

Group accountant Upendra Gounder said the company earned $500,000 of export earnings last year with an improved performance expected for next year. He said the company exported quality products which had contributed to its growing reputation in the Pacific.

"To be awarded with 2012 Exporter of the Year Award is a huge achievement for our company and we are inspired to explore new avenues in the future to help boost the Fiji economy," said Mr Gounder. "The award is recognition for our company and it is evident that our hard work has paid off.

"Maintaining quantity and not compromising on quality is one the contributing factors to the increase in our export markets which we think also contributed to winning this year's medium exporter of the year." He said the company exported its products to Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu, Kiribati and Nauru.

"We will be focusing to the Caribbean by next year." "We are also positive of increasing our export earnings by next year with the inclusion of our new markets." Apart from our export we are self—sufficient here in Fiji and we are quite happy that we are also meeting our demands locally."

Mr Gounder said winning the award for this year was a continuation from last year's achievement winning the 2011 Exporter of Year to Pacific Islands award. He also thanked the sponsors and the Government for rewarding the exporters and their contribution in growing Fiji's economy.

"I thank the Reserve Bank of Fiji for sponsoring our award, Vodafone, Westpac, our bankers the Fiji Development Bank and the ANZ Bank for their continued support and not forgetting our hardworking staff, directors and managers," he added. Ram Sami and Sons Limited along with 11 other local exporting companies won the awards at the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa in Natadola on Saturday.
