Tax free towns

THE declaration of Tavua and Rakiraki as a tax free zone for agriculture projects by government will create more employment and investor opportunities for the two towns.

This is the view of Tavua Town Council special administrator Arun Prasad following the announcement by Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama in his 2013 National Budget announcement yesterday.

"In an effort to stimulate economic development, the region from Korovou to Tavua will be declared tax free region for the agricultural sector," said Commodore Bainimarama.

Mr Prasad said the future looked bright for Tavua as a bustling business district because of the new incentive.
