A GROUP of senior citizens over 70 years old in Vanua Levu who have lived without superannuation funds were all smiles yesterday after government's announcement to provide allowances for them from next year.
Dharmendra Kumar, 72, of Wailevu said gone were the years where they were neglected as the government had now stepped in to assist them.
"At least, we will have something to rely on and not ask around for financial assistance from neighbours and relatives," he said.
Another citizen Laisiasa Kera applauded government, saying the budget would improve the lives of Fijians.
