$2.5m for bio-diesel plants

Update: 5:40PM GOVERNMENT has allocated an additional $2.5million for the establishment of more bio-diesel plants elsewhere.

The government is also contributing $1million to the Somosomo Hydro Power project, Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama announced in the 2013 Budget today.

A sum of $400,000 has been set aside to study the feasibility of various renewable energy sources - wind, solar, hydro, biomass and geothermal.

A total of $858,000 has been allocated for the purchasing of bio-fuel equipment, following the $200,000 given for the development of bio-gas projects.
