$6.6m for maritime safety

Update: 5:31PM THE Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF) will receive a grant of $6.6million to bring Fiji into compliance with all international and national maritime obligations and ensure the safety of all seafarers.

Currently, lifejackets made in Fiji were duty-free only for the export market. The government will change this so that locally-made lifejackets will be available for purchase duty-free in Fiji through MSAF.

On land, the government is incorporating ambulance response services into the National Fire Authority (NFA).
