Chief laid to rest

THE late Tui Nadrau Ratu Lemeki Nabuibuita Natadra was laid to rest at the chiefly village burial ground on Thursday.

Hundreds of mourners gathered to bade farewell to the late chief who was described as loving and caring .

His traditional warriors closely guarded the village lawn and by Wednesday afternoon the whole village of Nadrau was packed with chiefly ties from the Kalevu in Nakuruvarua , Naitasiri, Ba and relatives in the upper reaches of the Sigatoka River.

Government was represented by the roko tui Nadroga and Navosa Viliame Burenivalu and some members of the Nadroga Provincial Council.

Ratu Napolioni Natadra said his father passed away a fortnight ago after a short illness. Ratu Lemeki, who was 73 years old, was a member of the Nadroga Provincial Council and the Great Council of Chiefs.
