A MAN is recovering at the Labasa Hospital after being hit by a vehicle while returning home from a prayer meeting.

The accident happened at a blind bend in Soasoa, outside Labasa Town, on Thursday night.

Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said the victim, believed to be in his 60s, sustained minor injuries from the accident.

"The victim was returning from a prayer meeting when the accident happened at the bend," Ms Naisoro said.

"He claimed that he didn't see the vehicle approaching as it was dark.

"He is still admitted at the hospital as investigations continue."

Police have reiterated calls for caution on the roads.

"Be aware and cautious when walking or driving on the road, " Ms Naisoro said.
