LAMI-based Red Rock continues to run hot in the domestic sevens competition, winning another tournament over the weekend.
The Lote Rasiga-coached side walked away $2500 richer after winning the Fiji Sports Council (FSC) Ra Rugby 7s tournament at Rakiraki grounds on Saturday last week.
Red Rock entered two teams in the two-day tournament with its second team winning the plate final to collect the $500 prizemoney.
FSC events officer Eroni Tawayaga said the sports fiesta was organised in the council's continuing effort to strengthen sporting interests in the province of Ra and raise awareness of the FSC facility in Rakiraki.
"There were 30 teams registered for the rugby tournament with a team coming in from the north and also from as far as Yasawa and 10 teams registered for the netball tournament," he said.
FSC chief executive officer Litiana Loabuka said, "It is encouraging to see teams come all the way from Taveuni and Yasawa, it is good for Rakiraki and for this tournament".
"We will be having these sporting tournaments next year in all our facilities around the country that is Lawaqa Park, Thomson Park in Navua and Ra Sports Ground in Rakiraki" FSC's operations manager Timoci Naleba said.
