BARBARIANS Football Club from Navua have been booted from the National Club Championship after failing to register its players at club level.
One of the regulations of the competition is to register all players at club level. However, the Navua FA club failed to register most of its players despite qualifying from the association to feature in the NCC Southern playoff tomorrow.
Barbarians and League FC were the two teams that qualified from Navua.
Fiji FA chief executive officer Bob Kumar said the decision was made as they needed to abide by the regulation of the competition.
"Yes Barbarians qualified from Navua but they have been disqualified because of some of its players were not registered to the club. We did this to avoid protest during the NCC and it is the decision made by Fiji FA," he said.
"Some of the players are registered to play for Navua at district level and that's fine, but at club level they also need to be registered. So in this case a few players were not registered and we did take action against that," Kumar added.
The Southern playoff starts tomorrow.
