THE Nadonumai Volleyball Association is hoping to select a good team for the upcoming Vulaca competition in January.
The association has never taken part in the competition but is optimistic of a good debut.
They started their weekly club competition last week and president Alipate Gonerogo said their plan to feature in the Vulaca was on track.
"We will play our second round of competition tomorrow (today) and this weekly competition will help us select a team," he said.
Gonerogo said the only downfall for the association was that only two women's teams were part of the association.
"We have five men's teams but only one women's team turned up for the knockout tournament two weeks ago.
"Now we have another women's team and we would like to encourage more womens teams in the Lami and Nadonumai area to join the association as we would like to field a women's team in the Vulaca competition."
The biggest challenge the association faces is finance and Gonerogo is hopeful a sponsor will answer their prayers soon.
"It's very difficult to run an association without funds and right now we are just relying on the court and registration fees and also using money from our own pockets," he said. Competition will be played at Mount Hermon court and the challenge match will be between holders Upstreet and Rectiy.
