Plans to upgrade village status

TALKS are in progress to turn Navatumale Village in Navosa into a town.

Commissioner Western Commander Joeli Cawaki, who toured the Nadroga and Navosa province earlier this week, revealed that the centrally located village would be developed into a small town as a long- term plan.

Primarily a government station located near Keiyasi Village in the Navosa region, Navatumale has been housing civil servants commissioned to work in the province.

Cdr Cawaki also revealed plans to build more accommodation facilities at the station. "This is not only for the civil servants in Navatumale, it is also for the surrounding villages. This is our provincial development for the whole place," said Cdr Cawaki.

He said the government invested $5million on provincial developments within the Western Division this year.
