FIJI'S five-star Namale Resort & Spa in Savusavu on Vanua Levu has been voted the favourite spa in the South Pacific.

SpaFinder Wellness — the global spa and wellness resource — yesterday announced the resort as the winner of the 2012 Country Award for the South Pacific.

This recognition is given annually to the number-one most-voted spa in the South Pacific by spa-goers across the world in SpaFinder Wellness' Readers' Choice Awards.

In a statement, resort director of sales and marketing and guest services Hudson Mitchell said the 2012 Readers' Choice Awards tallied a record amount of votes globally which was more than any other year in its 10-year history.

As such, he said the awards provided the most comprehensive consumer assessment of the global spa market available today, identifying spa-goers' favorite spas by continent, country/region and across 27 categories.

SpaFinder Wellness president Susie Ellis said to work one's way to the top of a global industry "is nothing short of an extraordinary feat".

"This Country Award salutes the hard work of Namale's owners and staff who achieved this honour together by delivering the highest standards for spa and wellness available today in the South Pacific for every client, every day," Ms Elli said.

Namale Resort & Spa general manager Bill Keefe said they were humbled to be selected and recognised in this award.
